Weekend at the Lakes

On Friday 23^rd September a group of staff travelled over to Brotherswater for a weekend of fun, walking and relaxation. By early evening Friday everyone had eventually found their way to the accommodation, just in time for a quick bite to eat and off to the bar to enter the quiz. 'Norcare's Babies' put up a splendid effort coming joint first in the quiz with the option to split the prize (some beer pennies) or go head to head. We split the prize, we could I'm told have won, however I think the fact that we had 11 people in our team and the other team had two might have just given us the advantage, on top of this we also won two of the three spot prizes - well done. After much merriment we headed for bed to prepare for our long walk the next day. First out of bed I set to making packed lunches for 12 at 7.00am - don't ask there must have been a pea in my bed, soon to be joined by Deirdre, Claire and Gillian. No sign of the boys.

At 10.00 we all headed off into Glenridding and spent best part of the day walking to Howtown along the lakeside, in order to catch the ferry back to Glenridding.

It was a glorious day and the walk whilst challenging at times was done at a fresh brisk pace, well done to everyone (of course congratulations must go to Dee and Patrick who scaled Helvelyn at the same time). Of course on return to Glenridding a quick stop at the local for a pint or two was just what the doctor ordered, I declined feeling the pull of a spin over Kirkstone Pass on my motorbike to strong to miss. The day was fun but tiring, for some more than others.

Saturday evening was again a fun filled night and after our evening meal merriment was once again had in the bar.

We had some particularly late revellers that night consequently the walk on Sunday up to Aira Force waterfall was a little thin on the ground.

A great weekend was had by all, no doubt details of the next one will be coming out to you all in the near future.
