Vegetables at Gibside

Working on the vegetable patchHealth Improvement Project and Casus have joined forces to offer service users a healthy environment to learn new and important life skills. They have secured a plot of land at Gibside National Trust property, were they can grow fresh organic produce such as herbs and vegetables. The initial idea of the project was for service user participation, the idea is for service users to grow the produce cultivate it from seedlings and take it home to cook it with assistance from Health Improvement project and volunteers from Informal Education.

We have already had some positive response from service users but would welcome any further referrals. Apart from the garden Gibside is a beautiful place to visit and all service users would have the opportunity to explore the grounds.

Currently we are hoping to visit the allotment every Thursday; clients may only go to the allotment with Casus, Health Improvement Officers or elected volunteers this is due to health and safety issues.
