To The Rescue - Mount Huly

Norcare have recently been approached by Northumberland Supporting People Team to take over at short/no notice the management of a scheme which has been left with no support provider following a series of difficulties experienced by the original provider, which has seen them go into liquidation.

The scheme provides housing-related support to four ex-offenders based in a shared property just outside Belsay in Northumberland, and one ex-offender in a property in Blyth.

The service users have significant individual needs, particularly in light of their having had little or no structured support work done with them over a significant period of time.

Norcare have taken on two new members of staff on short term basis to work on the scheme, which is anticipated to last for about three months or until the service users can be settled into their own permanent accommodation.

Since July 8th we have been providing support to the residents at Mount Huly. We're working with the Probation team and Drug Intervention Programme Teams at Blyth to plan the future for this scheme and its clients. The property is owned by a farmer who is moving into the house at the end of January next year so this will not be a long term Norcare provision, at least in it's current format and location.

Further news on this scheme will follow.
