Norcare Skiing Adventure
In October 04 Paula Bustin, Business Manager and Mel Clark, Housing Support Officer put their heads together to organise a skiing trip to Glen Shee for all Norcare staff. The trip, which took place in January 2005, was a huge success and enjoyed by all who attended, so much so that ideas for the next expedition are already being discussed.
The group of 18, consisting of staff, family and friends, left from Portman House at 12 noon on Friday 28th January for the two night stay. After a few wrong turns they all arrived safely at the Fife Arms Hotel where there was some delicious home-made soup waiting. After lunch the would-be skiers went for a wander around the village a.k.a the local watering holes!
Saturday morning finally saw everyone heading for the slopes, and yes everyone met the snow with their bottom at some point but great fun was had by all. Skiing was off the agenda on Sunday as the snow was starting to disappear and judging by the strange way some of the staff were walking it was probably just as well. So instead everyone donned mountain bikes and cycled off into the crisp Scottish hills for a bike ride, although there was a bit of 'bike pushing' went on too. Finally, after an entertaining weekend, everyone departed and headed for home on Sunday lunchtime, bruises and all.
The weekend was a fantastic experience and enjoyed by all. Particular thanks go to Mel and Paula for taking the time to arrange the trip.
