Terentia House (women and families fleeing domestic violence)
Terentia House is a supported housing project for woman and children fleeing domestic violence. There are facilities to house up to six women and 16 children. Each resident is given a six month tenancy agreement which can be extended if needed. Each service user is allocated a key worker, who will work with individuals to develop a support plan to help identify goals and aims for the future.

Kairos (misuse of alcohol)
Kairos is a supported accommodation project for men and women over the age of 18, whose use of alcohol has affected their lives in a detrimental way. Kairos is the Greek word for 'time out'.
Kairos has facilities for eight residents with each resident being given a six month tenancy agreement allowing each individual time to participate fully in the programme.
The programme consists of a period of time away from alcohol, respite from the pressures of life, an opportunity to examine why drinking has become problematic and adversely affected their physical, psychological and emotional well being and also provides help to access independent accommodation. Kairos provides clients with the opportunity to learn to live without alcohol and find different ways of coping with situations without recourse to alcohol abuse together with a structured programme of life skills, to enable each individual to live independently without alcohol.
At Kairos, we believe that the programme offered is suitable for those people who have acknowledged that they have a problem with controlling their alcohol consumption. The programme is based on Norcare's philosophy of helping people to help themselves. Clients are encouraged to take responsibility for their feelings, emotions and behaviour. Kairos subscribes to the theory that behaviour is learned and can therefore be unlearned by increasing self-awareness in a non-judgemental environment.
Kairos is situated in pleasant Durham countryside setting approximately 3 miles from Durham City Centre. There is a regular bus service into Durham City which offers a wide range of shops in a beautiful historic location including the cathedral, castle and riverside walks.
