Homeless charity, Norcare has been ranked as one of the UK’s top companies.

Norcare has been named in The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For list.

Norcare employs around 80 people in projects across the North East. The organisation helps support and find homes for those who are socially and economically excluded.

Norcare was ranked 27th in the top 100 public sector and charity sector organisations to work for.

The accolade comes hot on the heels of news that the company has won a two-star rating in the workplace – a ‘Michelin style’ ranking system that singles out companies demonstrating excellent employee engagement.

Rod Jones, chairman of Norcare, said: “This award really is a fantastic achievement for Norcare and demonstrates the value Norcare puts on its staff. Our staff are at the very heart of Norcare. It is their expertise and dedication that drive our organisation and help to make it the success it is. Without them we would be unable to help those vulnerable people in our community who rely so completely on our support.

“We see these awards as a testament to the hard work of our staff and a recognition that together we all work to make Norcare a fulfilling and enjoyable place to be. Every single employee should feel valued and understand the role they play in helping to make Norcare a better place both for ourselves and our clients.”

To be included in the prestigious listing, companies are assessed according to a range of criteria from how long employees stay with the company, to what benefits they receive such as holiday and sick leave and flexi-working opportunities. The listing takes account of staff satisfaction with employees being surveyed anonymously for their opinions of the company.
