County Durham
Kairos
Kairos is an eight bed supported accommodation project for people who misuse alcohol. The scheme is located in County Durham and includes a six month programme of support and advice, exploring the issue of alcohol misuse. Clients must be alcohol free for seven days prior to moving into the project, and must continue to refrain from drinking whilst in the accommodation. Referrals to this scheme are made by Social services, health professionals, The Probation Service and directly from individual applicants.
Terentia House
Terentia House is a refuge situated in County Durham, providing accommodation for women and children fleeing domestic violence. The scheme provides temporary accommodation for women and children in their immediate family who are under the age of 18. The scheme accepts referrals on a direct access basis with most referrals coming from Social services, the Police public protection unit (PPU), The Probation Service, health professionals and directly from individual applicants. Because of the nature of this service, referrals are taken immediately if we have vacancies. Clients are not normally in a position to wait so a waiting list is not currently used. We work with all clients to develop a support programme lasting between six and 24 months - providing personalised support and advice and helping the client access education, health and wellbeing support, and counselling services.
