At Norcare we do our utmost to help our clients in every way we can. To help them move towards living happy independent lives we try to offer them every opportunity to develop their skills. Our client forum Being Heard provides an informal and friendly environment in which clients can discuss any issues related to Norcare and its services as well as making suggestions for new activities or events. As part of this forum some clients compile and produce their own newsletter.
Norcare has a dedicated client empowerment officer who works to involve clients at every level of the organisation. We need our clients to tell us what works for them and what doesn’t and to help shape strategies, services and policies so that they can best serve the needs of the people we help. We also invite clients to help interview new staff members.
In addition Norcare has a client learning officer and an employability officer who work together to ensure the right learning and training opportunities are available to clients to help them into employment. Clients have the opportunity to join confidence courses, one to one sessions to develop CVs and interview training. They can also apply for a place on our active client employment (ACE) programme, a 12 month traineeship scheme that teaches clients the skills they need to become a housing and support officer. They will even be supported to apply for any internal positions within Norcare or other similar organisations following graduation from the scheme.
Clients can also join group visits to places of interest, leisure activities like bowling and dedicated client days. Our health and wellbeing team offer sessions on healthy cooking, art therapy and help with quitting smoking. They also have a gardening project which clients can join to grow their own fruit and vegetables.
At Norcare the client is always at the heart of everything we do so we are always looking for new opportunities to help them develop their skills or grow in confidence.
