Board of Management

 

Bishop Martin Wharton - President

Bishop Wharton became a Board of Management member and President of Norcare in 1999.  He trained for the priesthood in Ripon Hall, Oxford and served curacies in Birmingham and Croydon.  He has been heavily involved in ministry and training within the Church and sits on a number of local committees.

 

Bill Midgley - Chair

Mr Midgley is a former Chief Executive of Newcastle Building Society and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.  He is widely involved in a number of local and national projects, and writes a monthly column for the N.E. Times, Contact magazine and an occasional column for the Journal.  He is the Chair of Your Homes Newcastle and of Century Radio and has been the Chair of Norcare since January 2001.

Management Team

 

Susan Bickerton - Chief Executive 

Susan joined Norcare in December 2006. Much of her previous career has been in the learning and skills sector, most recently as the Executive Director for Northumberland Learning and Skills Council. Previous posts she has held have included Regional Director for learndirect and Regional Director for the Further Education Funding Council, both with responsibility for the North East region. Susan has a Business Studies degree and holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.  She is currently pursuing the Senior Leadership Programme with the Centre for Excellence in Leadership.  Susan has been a member of a number of boards related to education and training in the past and is looking forward to contributing to one or more boards relevant to her new role.

 

 

Peter Stafford - Director of Service Delivery

Peter joined Norcare in May 2003 having previously worked for Newcastle City Council for 15 years in the Housing Management Directorate. He has a postgraduate Diploma in Housing Policy and Management and several Management qualifications. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Housing and is a member of the Academy of Chief Executive's Leader Forum. Peter is currently on the Board of Your Homes Newcastle (Inner West), is a member of Newcastle's Regen Forum Steering Group and is Chair of Governors at a primary school in Newcastle.

 

 

Deirdre Pearson - Director of Finance and Administration 

Deirdre joined Norcare in December 2004 having previously worked as a Management Accountant for a private company who owned and developed Residential Care Homes in Northumberland.  Previous to this she has worked as an Accountant for 15 years in a number of Limited companies both in manufacturing and the service industries, having assisted with the flotation on the USM Stock Market of one of these companies.

 

Nikki Wheeler - Contracts Manager

Nikki joined Norcare in 1999 as a Housing Support Officer for the SAIL project.  She was responsible for the setting up of both the Gateshead and Newcastle Addiction Schemes in 2002-03.  In 2003 she was promoted to Team Leader and subsequently to Area Manager in 2004.

 

Keith Box - Performance and Needs Analysis

Keith joined Norcare in 2001 as Area Manager for North and South Tyneside and Northumberland, having previously worked for a supported housing provider in London with similar client groups to that of Norcare.

 

 

Denise Keane - Executive Assistant

Denise joined Norcare in 2001 as Office Administrator having previously worked for a number of both private and public sector organisations in an administrative capacity.
