Norcare

Norcare have been lucky enough to be involved in the Byker Centre project in Newcastle, which has involved the complete regeneration of the gardens of St. Michaels Church in Byker.  The grand opening took place on September 16^th and it was a great success.  The garden has been created on a shelf of land overlooking the Tyne at Headlam Street on the fringe of the Byker Wall in Newcastle.  The site enjoys sweeping views over the river

and the city and the garden included an anphitheatre feature to make the most of the vistas.  The Byker Centre project will combine the garden with the refurbishment of the site’s empty Victorian listed St Michaels Church to provide a range of services, activities and facilities.  Norcare called out for the youngest and the oldest resident at Byker to take part in the opening of the Garden, and following a press release a week prior, two local persons took part in the occasion. 

Norcare were chosen as part of Her Royal Highness the Princess Royal’s visit to the North East region in September.  The Princess heard the harrowing stories of brave war veterans when she touched base at the Centre, and took a tour around the Centre before unveiling a plaque to commemorate her visit.  Little four year old Charlotte Wheeler presented the Princess with a posy of flowers, before HRH signed the visitors book and took leave from the building.  The Princess’s visit has been a huge honour and the whole day really was a whirlwind of anticipation and excitement.  It truly was a day to remember.
